The Truth Putting Aid

$20.00

Hit your putt anywhere but the center of the club face, and you will know it. Feel free to place your order for our next batch arriving by February 25th, but please know this won't ship until then. Apologies: Demand has been more than we anticipated!

The Truth is exactly what it says it is: a putting judge and jury. High, low, left, right: no lie, just The Truth. Have you ever looked at the putter face of the best putters in the world? We have. You'll find a small bald spot from striking the ball thousands of times in the exact same location. Tiger Woods, one of the greatest putters in the game, says good putting starts by hitting the ball in the center of the club face. Do you do that? Would you like to find out... The Truth? Included in this package is a large and small putting node, 8 circular pieces of tape, a carrying device, and a lovely velvet storage bag. Start working on a little precise bald spot of your own.

An important note: This product is NOT magnetic. It is held on with double-sided grip tape. Most of our customers' putters are either milled stainless steel or have one of several types of inserts. Magnets won't work. Even if magnets would work, it would move with each ball contact. Tape is the solution. We've tested the other options. We've tested our double-sided grip tape extensively on different putters for long periods of time. It works, but also removes cleanly and is reusable for long periods of time. We also include 8 pieces so you'll be good for the foreseeable future. If you want more, you're welcome to reach out and buy some from us, but you're also welcome to cut out a circle of grip tape and use that. We're good either way. But again, NOT magnetic, so please don't email us yelling that this product isn't magnetic. We're aware. That's why it works. Now go make some putts!

FAQ

Do I use both of the metal pieces at the same time? I don’t get it.

Nope. There are two different sizes for different levels of difficulty. L = Large (the easier of the two) and S = Small (the more difficult of the two). Pick the one that you want to work with and place it in the dead center of your putter’s club face and focus on center contact.

Those little adhesive discs… where do I get more?

You can buy some some extras right here (coming soon), or just use some good old fashioned grip tape.

Hey, the adhesive on the back of my Truth isn’t sticky any more, what gives?!

That’s why we included some extra adhesive discs with your purchase. Just peel the old one off, and slap a new one on. Simple as that. If you’ve run out of adhesive discs, you can buy more here (coming soon), or just head to your local club fitter and ask if you can have some grip tape.

Ok, ok. Why can’t I get this set up correctly?

It may seem funky at first… we get it. But, check out this video, and we’ll get you dialed in.

Any suggestions for ball positions when I’m using the PPTS?

Definitely! Check out this video where our delightful friend, Lauren, talks about some pretty basic ball positions for various clubs

Also, there are loads of resources out there that have great information on ball position basics… here are a few:

  • Rick Shiels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq5XvNtjv38
  • Matt Fryer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ0uilXtfr0
  • Peter Finch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5mrYgwkHck

I’m having trouble getting the crosspiece onto my alignment stick… it’s too loose/tight. Help!

Our kit was designed to fit standard 5/16” alignment sticks. If your sticks are too big or small, you may need to get some new sticks to work with the kit. We have some here, if you want to make certain the ones you purchase will work.

This all seems cool… but I always set up a bit closed/open to the target line… why would this help me?

We get it… not everyone sets up perfectly square to their target line. But, practicing with the PPTS will give you the ability to have a known constant when it comes to your stance. Even if you, say, drop your back foot back 2″ from a square toe line, you’ll know that’s exactly what you’re doing when you practice. This is important for consistency.

I only like to mark part of my ball… why should I even want to mark the whole thing?

We get it… everyone has their preferences. The reason we like to mark the entire ball is for two big reasons: 1. If you hit a shot directly on the line, it often smears it or messes up the perfect mark you put on it. When you have an entire ball’s worth of line, you can just rotate the ball a bit and still have a nice big, pure line to putt with. And, 2. It’s nice to be able to get feedback on where the line on your ball is pointing when you stand behind that ball, and having a line that goes all the way around does that.

How do I use this thing? Where does the ball go?

Just open up the clam and put that fresh golf ball in there. Close it, give it a little squeeze, and then hold the open end together with one hand while you mark the ball with the other. Here’s a video to give you an idea just how to do it.

Wait. Which way do I point the lines?

Think of that wedge/triangle of lines as on an arrowhead; point them toward the hole so that the end where they converge is closer to the hole. Then get your read, look at the marker and decide which line best corresponds with your read, and place the ball on the ground accordingly. Sadly, the marker can’t read the putt for you… so that part is up to you. Go get ’em, Champ.

Dude… these markers are sweet, but what about MY SCHOOL?

First, thanks! We’d love to hear what schools you wish we had, so drop us a line here and let us know what you’re looking for.

Reviews
  • Amazing amazing amazing. Tried these little guys on the green and it really shows how bad you are and how much work you actually need to be better. So far best training aid I’ve found

  • I think the basic premise and idea is a great. I have an older Ping Anser 2i putter. When I applied the device to my putter, in order to make DBO contact, I had to change my putting style drastically. Right now I putt at 1.7 putts per hole. I moved the device around but just couldn’t find a position that I thought would be beneficial. I’m thinking if the “button” was a little larger, that might work. I haven’t given up yet. I fully understand if this review doesn’t make it to press. But great idea. Thank you

    • Thomas, First off, sincere thanks for a candid review. We definitely didn't go out and buy this one! Secondly, we hear you. And yeah, what you are experiencing is.... The Truth... and the truth. Square, center-face contact is difficult. We know a ton of excellent putters who have a varying stroke; you're likely one of them. But at the end of the day, the size large button works on a square, center face strike. It absolutely helps exaggerate any misalignment that may exist on contact, whether it's stike point or the face angle of the putter. It's designed to show that; it's designed to be difficult. It's our belief that, over time, probability will bear out that a center strike will make more putts. One note we'd make with stats in mind: Putts-Per-Hole can be a skewed number. In my case (not Charles - he's better than his business partner (me)), I miss greens in regulation more than I care to admit, then chip it close and 1 putt. PPH makes me look better than I am. We might focus more on Putts-Per-Green-In-Regulation for a slightly more accurate gauge of putting prowess. And my word please don't think I'm questioning your putting. That's not what this is. We've just had consistent positive feedback from the pros and coaches that use our product that the sizes are good. But it will absolutely expose a non-perfect-90 putter stroke, regardless of how effective that stroke may be. Enjoy your rounds. And again, sincere thanks for the feedback. Derrick
